Volunteer Treasurer for Music at the Red Door

Music at the Red Door, a nonprofit music organization that hosts a variety of concerts at St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford, CT, seeks a volunteer treasurer. Together with an Artistic Director, Operations Manager, and 10-person board, the treasurer oversees financial aspects of the organization. This volunteer position can be fully remote, though in-person attendance at approximately two annual board meetings is highly desirable.

Duties include:

• Sign checks
• Maintain position as account holder with the bank
• Review bank statements as necessary
• Review assets and liabilities
• Take responsibility for putting together, signing and filing the annual 990 with the IRS
• In collaboration with Artistic Director and Operations Manager, help prepare the annual budget for the organization
• Review and present financial reports to the board approximately twice a year
  • This includes providing historical comparisons, comparison to budget and commentary
  • Provide oversight to financial details as recorded through QuickBooks by the bookkeeper
  • Identify noteworthy items to board and vestry
  • At times prepare financials in support of grant applications, including fiscal (program) year and concert or program-oriented financial reports
  • Note:  These tasks involve using Excel-versions of Monthly and Annual GL extracts from QuickBooks delivered by St. John’s bookkeeper.
